Ordnance Survey of Ireland

This is a service being offered by the Ordinance Survey of Ireland and the Place Names Commission, free of charge, to all local authorities. A list of all place names of any city or county must first be supplied in English and Irish by the local authority. Once submitted, this list will be proofed and a tranlsation will be given even in cases where no translation previously existed. Some local authorities have already gone through this scheme, and the supplied database has proven very useful i.e. Register of Electors, Irish correspondence, etc.
