Training & Development

Training and development forms part of the human resource division. They provide guidance, advice and support to local authorities on how to effectively address the training and development needs of their employees in order to meet future operational targets.

The LGMSB acts on behalf of the local authorities and under the direction of the National T&D Steering committees to co-ordinate sectoral wide responses to identified staff training and development needs. These activities are undertaken so as to promote best practice and achieve economies of scale for all local authorities.

T&D Executives within the Board also support a number of sectoral networks such as the networks for freedom of information officers; access officers, safety advisors, etc in an effort to promote and disseminate best practice between local authorities.
